Client Background
The client is a leading system integrator responsible for managing large-scale enterprise IT infrastructure deployments across multiple customer environments. Their operations frequently involve configuring and migrating Cisco network switches as part of infrastructure upgrades, expansions, and modernization projects.
Challenges
Given the scale and frequency of deployments, the configuration and migration process had become increasingly complex, time-sensitive, and resource-intensive. The organization faced several operational bottlenecks.
Some of the Key Challenges
- Configuration and migration processes were highly time-consuming and repetitive.
- Required highly skilled technical resources for execution.
- Extensive manual intervention increased operational overhead.
- High cost of operations due to skilled manpower dependency.
- Human errors led to rework, delays, and loss of productivity.
- Limited scalability during peak deployment demands.
Our Solution
We designed and implemented an RPA-based automation framework to streamline the Cisco switch configuration and migration workflow.
- Bot reads input data from an Excel file containing switch configuration details.
- Bot launches the PuTTY application and establishes secure connections with each switch.
- Bot executes predefined commands within the terminal to retrieve and apply required configuration details.
- Extracted output is captured and stored in a structured text file for documentation.
- The final report is automatically shared with stakeholders via email for review and validation.
Automation Benefits
The implemented solution delivered significant operational and business value across infrastructure management processes:
